RW: Waveny House | New Canaan, Connecticut
As you turn into the driveway for Waveny Park in New Canaan, Connecticut you drive through a narrow and windy tree lined driveway that ultimately opens up to the breathtaking Waveny House Estate and expansive grounds, the perfect setting for a wedding. Monika & Andrew knew the moment the hit the top of that driveway that that is where they would say I Do and dance the night away with family & friends.
Most weddings at the Waveny House Estate have a formal, ballroom mansion look to them but after spending a bit of time in the space and keeping an open mind we noticed that the estate was not formal at all. Rather its historic tapestries and wall coverings all had the motif of huntsman, the wide plank floor and rustic beams in the ceiling provided more of a rustic, activity rich home where men would hunt for their food and gather in the great room discussing their triumphs over a glass of whisky. With Monika our bride from Kentucky it was the perfect look & feel for her and Andrew’s “Kentucky Huntsman Inspired Wedding”
To achieve this unique look we decorated the space with rustic farm tables that were donned with pink and peach florals and large cherry blossom branches arrangements as well as authentic dear antlers. Silver mercury votives provided a flickering glow as guests dined on beautiful slate chargers and a delicate silver pattern china. Some of the really fun details of the wedding were the Bourbon Tasting Bar with appropriate pairing accompaniments such as dried fruits and chocolate. Other unique details was a five tier absolutely breathtaking cake by Erica O'Brien Cake Design with matching sugar flowers and a watercolor cake topper inspired by the couple’s invitation which sat upon a fun and funky sequin linen and Kentucky’s finest mini Maker’s Mark bottles as escort cards!
The day was simply flawless, guests enjoyed Indian inspired food (the bride’s nationality) and danced the night away to one of Fairfield County’s most sought after bands. The bride radiated throughout the day and night in her magnificent blush Monique Lhuillier gown, and the groom in his custom Hugo Boss tuxedo. To end the evening the newlyweds left the wedding with a magical sparkler send off!
