[ The ACE 8 - Non-Traditional Venues]
One of the most frequently asked questions we get asked by newly engaged couples is what out favorite venue is in Connecticut. Working at so many different wedding locations throughout the state has shown me that there really is something for everybody. You want to make sure when you are looking into different places, there is often a pretty long list of places you love, so it is important to make a pro/con list and make sure your venue has everything you are looking for. Personally, working at venues that are “out of the ordinary” or “unique wedding spots” is something that we love. We truly are blessed to get to work at so many amazing venues throughout the state, so I have compiled a list of 8 non-traditional wedding venues in Connecticut. It was not easy narrowing this list down, but here are some of our favorites, in no particular order!
1. Hopkins Vineyard -
Hopkins Vineyard is located in Litchfield County, and not only do they have amazing wine, but the have views to die for overlooking Lake Waramaug! Although there isn’t an indoor space for a reception at the vineyard, this truly is one of the most romantic spots for a wedding, and why not celebrate your dream day under the stars with your family and friends!
2. The Lace Factory -
The Lace Factory in Deep River, CT is one of the most incredible wedding venues the state has to offer. The factory’s antique rustic charm & updated amenities makes this unique wedding venue one of our favorites. Along with all of the original, amazing details that you can find inside the Lace Factory, nearby you can head over to the Essex Steam Train or the CT River to take some jaw-dropping photos!
3. The Patterson Club -
The Patterson Club in Fairfield, CT is newly renovated and ready to host your wedding! Not only is the course itself picture perfect, but every detail that has been perfectly selected and put into each of the spaces they offer for your wedding. Start the night off with cocktail in the Fairfield Room and on the adjacent terrace and then head into The Greenfield Room for your dinner & dancing! The entire property is perfect for anybody looking for an impeccably kept venue, inside & out!
4. Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park -
Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park has one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Long Island Sound and is truly an incredible location for a wedding! Located in Waterford, CT, Eolia Mansion is just one of the many beautiful state mansions that we have been lucky enough to work at! From the picture perfect gardens, to the incredible historical architecture & details in each individual room of the home, everything about this expansive property makes it the perfect venue for your wedding!
5. The Bluffs at Lordship -
If you know anything about the coastline in southern Connecticut, then it’s more than likely you are familiar with the Bluff’s at Lordship in Stratford. There are tons of privately owned properties and homes in the area that make the perfect wedding venue. Start asking family & friends if they know anyone who knows anyone who lives in the area, because if you have the chance to get married here, I wouldn’t miss out!
6. Chamard Vineyards -
Chamard Vineyards is the second vineyard that made our list, and for good reason! Clinton, CT is most commonly known for their amazing outlets, but one look at this venue, you’ll wonder why you didn’t know about it sooner. The property has incredible views & a perfect wine cellar for a quaint wedding reception. If something larger is what you’re looking for, you can have a tent set up right along side expansive rows of Chardonnay & Merlot!
In the Litchfield Hills of CT, The Candlelight Farms Inn sits on top of Candlewood Mountain. The historic Inn was built in 1843 and its rustic charm is perfect for any couple who is looking for a venue that is not only quiet and serene, but has over 600 private acres that will make you feel like you and your guests are in a place far away from everyday life!
8. Tented Wedding at a Private Residence -
Last but most certainly not least, our last non-traditional venue is a tented wedding that takes place at a private residence. Our goal in helping you plan your wedding is to give our clients the day of their dreams, and sometimes starting with a blank canvas is the perfect way to do that! We can bring in as much or as little of something as you want, and there is never the question burning of “What are we going to do to hide that wallpaper?” Find a spot that means a lot to you, whether it’s your childhood home, your family vacation spot, or your new home, and let us help you celebrate the best day of your life and make more memories in a place already means so much to you!!
