:: Milford Yacht Club Wedding ::

Have you ever been somewhere and known that you are in the exactly right place at the right time doing exactly what you are meant to do? I've felt this feeling a few times in my life, for instance my first date with Nick. However my love life aside, Nick + Sarah's wedding was definitely one of those occasions. I met Sarah at a Crossfit Milford competition, we were both in line in the survivor dead lift competition and I saw her engagement ring, we got to talking about her wedding and I of course gushed over everything, we both hit a personal record and made plans to grab a coffee and talk about how I could help her create her big day. It was a fantastic Saturday morning.

Sarah is the first person to admit she's not super wedding-y, which is why our collaboration was simply perfect. Her and Nick took advantage of the partial planning package offered by yours truly. By the time I grabbed a coffee, Sarah saw a picture in one of the Amy Champagne book of ideas and said "I love this, I want to do Sunflowers!" Boom. Theme. Ideas were flowing and while the initial concept changed and was refined a bit over time, the sunflower [like in nature] stood strong. And when Nick + Sarah's wedding finally came, the day was absolutely filled with bright, gorgeous, sunflowers. Their preppy, yet go with the flow approach to life absolutely resonated throughout the day. It was awesome.

Sarah + Nick's day started like any ordinary day, their beautiful daughter (and flower girl) Lily needed to eat and have her morning routine until Sarah headed off to F Studio in Milford, CT with the very talented Marc dolled up Sarah and her maids + matrons. Marc did an amazing job on Sarah's side braid with blue + white ribbon weaved through. The look was inspired by Pinterest and clearly perfected by Marc.

The ceremony took place at Putney Chapel in Stratford, CT, from the"S" and "N"that hung from the antiquey green doors, to the gorgeous sunflower arrangements in mason jars on the pews, and the alter arraignments overflowing with sunflower and color, the chapel just looked AMAZING!! Elizabeth from Fleurescent once again outdid herself, I cannot say enough great things about her honestly, she never ceases to amaze me with her thoughtful, creative and outside the box flower arrangements. Amazing!! The ceremony itself was perfect, everyone in the chapel knew they were in the presence of true love and the sense of excitement for the couple was overwhelming.

The reception was held at Milford Yacht Club in Milford, CT and what a terrific job Scott and his crew did. The drinks were flowing and the food was excellent. Sarah and I worked to tie in the sunflowers with the yachty-ness of the Milford Yacht Club. We incorporated details such as nautical flag escort cards made by Donna of Little Random Details that corresponded with the nautical flag "table number", to the "Message in a Bottle" guest book and the adorable card holder both made by Amy Champagne. The tablescape design was designed to add color and warmth to the yacht club, with custom table runners made by the original hostess with the mostess my grandmother, and to.die.for. sunflower cookies favors made by my talented Aunt Lisa, (Shhh...she is available for hire, big announcement to come soon!).

After dinner the drinks continued to flow and people hit the dance floor like no one was watching, well I was and it was awesome. And there was an extra special [interpretive] dance between Sarah and her gorg Matron of Honor Jen that I honestly think should be incorporated in every wedding. It was hysterical and also super well done. I feel like I haven't stopped talking about it since the wedding. Actually more of a fact than it is a feeling....haha.

One final vendor hired by Sarah + Nick that deserves an extra special shout out was their photographer Michael of Michael Paul Photo. Michael and his wife Linda were an absolute joy to work with. He captured the day and Nick + Sarah's style PERFECTLY. Oh, and he wouldn't leave, in talking to Linda while everyone was getting.down on the dance floor she told me that Michael won't leave until "he's captured a story" and that's exactly what he did. He overstayed his contract, and captured the final moments of Nick + Sarah's epic wedding. I look forward to working with them again and needless to say the pictures speak for themselves. Please..follow him on the Facebook here to see more pictures of their wedding and others!

What a great stinkin' wedding. Thank you Nick + Sarah for choosing me as your wedding planner, I had a blast the last few months. Let's start planning your anniversary party asap... ;)

Until next time playas,

AC
